Celebrate Pi Day with a Sidewalk Chalk Theorem & Haiku Contest! On Thursday, March 14 (3/14) between 10am and 2pm, chalk a theorem and its proof in a creative display on the sidewalk in front of the Library. Sample theorems will be available for your use. OR, you can write an original pi-themed haiku for the chance to win.
Prizes (homemade pies from Dr. Pohlmann!) will be awarded for the Best Overall Presentation of a Proof and Best Overall Haiku. Additionally, Moon Pies will be available to individuals who can recite at least 7 digits of pi from memory. Judging by Sciences & Mathematics faculty will commence at 2pm.
Hosted by the Sciences & Mathematics Department and the Cal Maritime Library. Contact Brent Pohlmann (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Margot Hanson (email@example.com) for more information.
